Harry A. Knipp
Rising through the ranks from Lieutenant to Captain, Harry spent the final decade of his career as the head of the City of Pittsburgh Arson Squad. He was particularly known for his bravery, notably being the first firefighter to jump from the third floor of the newly opened fire training academy.
Harry and Mary raised their family in Squirrel Hill, where they were active members of St. Philomena’s Church, forging lasting friendships. For 50 years, they enjoyed a summer camp in Erie, Pennsylvania, surrounded by friends who became family. After retiring, Harry and Mary became snowbirds, spending their winters in Fort Myers, Florida, and making even more dear friends.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Harry will be remembered for his unwavering love, his courage, and his deep commitment to his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, bravery, and service, and he will be forever cherished by all those who knew and loved him.
