Joseph Edward Meyer Mr. Joseph Edward Meyer of Wexford passed away Thursday Oct 20, 2016 after an extended illness. He was 87 years old. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wexford. Joe was born in Troy Hill, Pittsburgh, He loved talking about Troy Hill and all of his childhood memories in the neighborhood. He graduated from North Catholic High School in Troy Hill and then enlisted in the Navy. After serving in the Navy, Joe worked many jobs, before becoming a fireman for the City of Pittsburgh, where he retired as a Captain of Company 38. Joe also was a pilot and loved to fly a Piper Cub on weekends. In later years, he never missed shooting pool with his friends every morning at the Blueberry Hill Retirement Center.
